Eastside H.S. Girls Basketball Team Wins Group 4 Crown, Heads to Tournament of Champions

PATERSON, NJ - On the heels of its Group 4 state championship victory, the Eastside High School varsity girls basketball team has been seeded fourth for the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions which begins Wednesday night.

Eastside, which has a 27-2 record, will meet fifth-seeded St. Rose of Belmar in the first round at 7:30 p.m. at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River. If the Lady Ghosts win that game, they would match up against top-seeded Shabazz Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the same venue.

Eastside defeated Shawnee, 60-41, for the Group 4 state championship on Sunday in Toms River. Junior guard Taylor Brown scored 26 points and passed for four assists and junior Juliet James grabbed 12 rebounds in Eastside's championship victory.
