Englewood Man Shot on Lafayette St. in Paterson Saturday Night

PATERSON, NJ - Police are investigating a shooting Saturday night on Lafayette Street that left an Englewood man in serious but stable condition at St. Joseph's Medical Center with a gunshot wound in the left side of his back.

According to Paterson police, at 8:13 p.m., a 46-year-old man from Englewood walked into the Lafayette Street firehouse in Paterson seeking assistance after being shot in the back. The victim reported that he had been equipment from a van in a lot in the 200 block of Lafayette Street when two males approached him.

At least one of the suspects had a gun, and the two suspects announced that this was a robbery. The victim put up a struggle and was shot. At that point, the suspects ran off. 

The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detectives Dave Tanis or Francisco Brito of the Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342
