PATERSON, NJ - A 32-year-old Fairfield man who allegedly tried to flee from a member of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office while in Paterson gave up after tripping and running out of breath, according to Sheriff Richard Berdnik.
According to Berdnik the incident began at about 10:00 a.m. Sunday when the suspect, later identified as David Caporizzo pulled out of Triangle Village parking lot at a high rate of speed, nearly striking the officer who was patrolling on Fair Street at the time.
Caporizzo is said to have first started a traffic pursuit around the block before he exited the vehicle and ran.
The report continues that the suspect attempted to throw a clear plastic bag over a fence but due to its light weight it just dropped to the ground.
Caporizzo was taken into custody and a small amount of crack cocaine was retrieved.
