PATERSON, NJ - An effort to crackdown on illegal fireworks led to the recovery of at least 100 packages of commercial grade explosives Friday, according to Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale.

Through an investigation members of the Paterson’s Police Department’s citywide detail made the discovery in a garage at 185 Montgomery Street and also revealed the possession of, and alleged intent to distribute, a large amount of narcotics including 131 grams, 109 grams of crack cocaine, 63 Ecstasy Pills, 153 oxycodone pills, 58 percocet pills, 104 xanax pills, 15 suboxone strips, 100 ambien pills, 7 THC vape pens, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.

$18,226 in cash was also seized.

Jose Hernandez was arrested and charged with a number of offenses related to the drugs and fireworks.
