PATERSON, NJ - For 140 years, folks had been attending Sunday services at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist at Grand and Main streets. But that came to a halt last fall when ceramic tiles began falling from the ceiling of the historic church, according to an article on northjersey.com.

Since then, the parish's masses have been held at the gymnasium of the Bishop Frank J. Rodimer Center, the story said.

"The community is faithful and devoted, but we are definitely hoping that it gets fixed soon," said Blanca Rizas, who regularly attends Mass at the cathedral, according to the story.

Now the parish  is waiting for engineers to determine how much work needs to be done to make the churh safe again.
