PATERSON, NJ - De Andre Haywood was all over the place in Eastside High's 50-37 win over Passaic Tech in Wayne Tuesday night. Haywood scored a game high 25 points, along with 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the Ghosts. He showed why is he such a big part of Eastside basketball program.
Haywood was able to get to the basket at will, whether it was a bucket for himself or an assist to a teammate. Senior Kyr'e Jackson also contributed with 11 points and a team-high 6 boards for the Ghosts.
Tech, which committed turnover after turnover, was led by senior Aazaad Hinton who had 15 points and 5 boards, and Shackquiel Scott, who scored 7 points but had a game high 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Tech came out of the gates on fire and took an early lead, but after a timeout by the Ghosts' coach, Juan Giles, the Eastside defense stepped up and shut down everything the Bulldogs tried to do.
Eastside took the lead and never looked back.
