MONTCLAIR, NJ - The Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University is working to create a “People’s Agenda” to give lawmakers in Camden, Newark, Paterson, and Trenton a better understanding of what issues matter most to members of their community.

But first they need to recruit the people.

Through the Center’s Voting Block initiative, 10 residents from each city will join together in their own cities over the course of three meals this fall to “discuss politics in a civil setting, and to speak directly to legislators who are making decisions that impact their lives."

At the end of the series, which will also have the participation of local journalists in an effort to “engage in a meaningful dialogue with the participants that yields deeper, richer, and more effective stories at the end,” the Center will compile the People’s Agenda and deliver it to lawmakers.
