JFK Boys Eliminate North Bergen in State Basketball Tournament


PATERSON, NJ - After trailing at halftime, the John F. Kennedy boys basketball team turned things around and scored a 64-52 victory over North Bergen in the first round of the NJSIAA Section 1, Group 4 state tournament Tuesday night.

The Knights outscored North Bergen, 41-28, after trailing by a point at the half.

Sophomore guard Alphonso Gee led JFK with 26 points, including 12 from the foul line. Jevon Rawl fired in three 3-pointers and concluded the game with 18 points in the victory. Jalani Morris contributed eight points for the Knights, who raised their record to 16-11 and bounced back from a 59-49 loss to Paterson Eastside in the championship game of the Passaic County Tournament on Saturday.
