June 26: County Health Dept. Blood Drive

 

PATERSON, NJ - Every 2.5 seconds someone needs blood – it could be a friend, a family member, or maybe even you. The need is real!

Blood donors participating in the Paterson Community Blood Drive in cooperation with Community Blood Services will help to ensure that the transfusion needs of area patients are met. The drive is being held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. sponsored by Passaic County Department of Health at 401 Grand Street.

To schedule an appointment, please call Community Blood Services @ (201) 251-3703. 

All blood types are needed, especially Types 0- and 0+.

Any healthy individual, age 17 through 75 (16 with parental permission) and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood.   Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature.  All donors receive complimentary non-fasting cholesterol and glucose screening with every blood donation.

I am writing this letter to express a grave concern I have regarding the influx of absentee ballots. To my understanding, absentee ballots were designed to be used by those who are unable to make it to the polls on Election Day. Such as people in the armed services or those who are away on vacation. 

This year’s municipal election will be one for the history books.
