June 30: Deadline For Homestead Rebate Applications

 

PATERSON, NJ - The deadlines to file  your  2011 Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) and 2011 Homestead Benefit applications has been extended to October 19, 2012, according to a press release by Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly. The original deadline for filing Senior Freeze applications was June 1, 2012, and the deadline for Homestead Benefit applications was June 30.
 
The Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) and Homestead Benefit Programs are two distinct property tax relief programs with different eligibility requirements and separate applications. The Division of Taxation mailed 2011 Property Tax Reimbursement (PTR) applications in February, and most eligible residents have already filed. Those who are eligible but have not yet filed can complete and mail in their PTR applications now. Applications for the 2011 Homestead Benefit were sent out in May and homeowners can file their applications either online or by phone. The automated filing systems for Homestead Benefit applications are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
