'Knock-and-Talk' Leads to Arrest

PATERSON, NJ- A Paterson man who invited members of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office into his home on Tuesday found himself under arrest and charged with several drugs-related offenses.

According to a statement by Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik, detectives from the Bureau of Narcotics went to 85 Mills Street, Apartment 1, after corroborating information that Maximo Taveras was allegedly distributing cocaine from the residence.

Known as a “knock-and-talk,” the report reads, upon being invited inside, and getting Taveras’ consent to perform a search, detectives found 32 Xanax pills, 610 grams of cocaine, 117 grams of marijuana, several items commonly associated with narcotics distribution, and $1963 in cash.

Taveras was immediately placed under arrest and transported to Passaic County Jail.
