Teachers of area students are invited to schedule presentations for their classes by members of the Museum’s Speakers’ Bureau on labor studies as a means of inspiration for the students.  Outside of school, students are invited to visit and tour the Museum for help with ideas.

Angelica M. Santomauro, Ed.D., Director of the American Labor Museum/Botto House National Landmark, announced the project, saying, “This program enables young people to express themselves creatively and think about the importance of the striking silk mill laborers who peacefully assembled at the Botto House in 1913 and worked together to bring about positive changes in their workplaces and daily lives.  It also is a lifetime opportunity to have one’s own work printed in a poetry book.  Participating students will always remember the experience.”

The poetry book will be unveiled at a reception at the Museum preceding the annual May Day Festival on Wednesday, May 1st, 2013 at 6PM.  All participating students, their families, friends and teachers are invited to the unveiling reception on May 1st at 6 PM.  The May Day Festival begins at 7 PM.

The poetry project and book are made possible by the generous support of the Passaic County Education Associations (PCEA).  This is the eleventh year in which the Museum and the Passaic County Education Associations have worked together on an annual project.
