PATERSON, NJ - Lisa Brady, the chief operating officer of Paterson-based St. Joseph's Healthcare System, recently joined the Metro YMCA board of directors, a decision that seems to fit well with her love of outdoor activities - especially baseball.
To be precise, Brady loves going to baseball stadiums. According to a statement announcing her decision to join the board, the athletic mother of twins is trying to visit every big-league stadium in the nation.
"When she’s not working or chasing after her 4 year-olds, Stephen and Anna, Brady is pursuing her quest to visit all 30 major league baseball stadiums in the U.S.," said the statement. "So far, she’s been to 19."
According to the "Y," Brady chose to become a board member of Metro YMCA, the largest association of YMCA's in the state, because doing so aligns with a number of her beliefs. “I have a personal and professional interest in the Y,’’ with its emphasis on wellness and disease prevention, physical activity and youth development, said Brady in the statement.
Metro YMCA serves more than 35,000 members at six branches across North Jersey. It said Brady believes her background and position with St. Joseph's fit well with the organization's goals.
"Brady, the chief operating officer and senior vice president of St. Joseph’s Healthcare System, said hospitals have a broad scope of responsibility that includes prevention and wellness efforts, in addition to acute care," says the Y's statement. "That reality is prompting them to increasingly partner with organizations, like the YMCA, that are committed to helping people live healthy."
A native of the "tiny city of East Dubuque, Illinois, where pretty much everyone was a Chicago Cubs fan," Brady went to college and graduate school in Illinois, according to the Y. She has a master’s degree in Health Systems Management from Rush University and a bachelor’s degree in anatomical sciences from the University of Illinois.
Brady wanted to become a doctor but found out she was better suited to “the business side" of healthcare, according to the statement. Brady lives in Nyack, N.Y. with her husband, Stephen, a New York City firefighter.
