Lodi Man Critical After Sunday Night Shooting in Paterson; Police Seek Occupant of Abandoned White Jeep

PATERSON, NJ - A 37-year-old Lodi resident was in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds after being shot in the abdomen and the torso on Sunday night in the city.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray, the victim was shot shortly before 9:45 p.m. in the area of 17th Avenue and E. 27th Street. Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area. When they got to the scene, they could not locate the victim, however, shortly after that, a 37-year-old man was dropped off with the aforementioned injuries at St. Joseph's Medical Center by someone driving a white-colored Jeep that immediately fled the hospital parking lot after the victim was dropped off.

"The vehicle description was broadcast to surrounding jurisdictions, and a white Jeep, believed to be involved in the incident, was recovered by the New Jersey State Police on a Route 80 entrance ramp off of Squirrelwood Road in Woodland Park," Murray said. "There were no occupants in the vehicle at the time of recovery."

Detectives are currently conducting interviews and canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage. The investigation is continuing at this time, and anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Edgar Taylor or Det. Rolondo Polio of the Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342.
