PATERSON, NJ - A pedestrian was beaten and robbed early Saturday morning in South Paterson.

According to Paterson police, the victim, a white male in his late 20s, was sitting on a bench in a small park near Main Street and Gould Avenue at 3 a.m. when a 5-11, 250-pound white male with a beard pulled up in a blue car. The driver ordered the victim to get off the block, then got out of the car, punched the victim in the face and, after he fell to the ground, kicked him several times.

The suspect stole the victim's wallet and cell phone, got back in the vehicle and drove off. The victim was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center for treatment.
