PATERSON, NJ - The Paterson Police Department issued the following release concerning a shooting that took place Sunday night:

On Sunday, 7/2/17, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Paterson Police patrol units responded to a reported shooting in the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Harrison Street. On arrival, officers located an apparent crime scene, but an area search for a victim proved negative. A short time later, Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center reported a shooting victim arriving by private vehicle.

The initial investigations suggests that the victim was in the area of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Harrison Street when he was accosted by a group of individuals. During the altercation, one of the individuals produced a firearm, and at least one shot was fired, striking the victim. The investigation is ongoing at this time, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Michael Quinones or Prosecutor’s Detective Ricardo Ferreira of the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
