Man Shot in Car on Chestnut St. Saturday


PATERSON, NJ - A city resident is in stable condition after being shot in the leg in his car Saturday night.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray of the Ceasefire Unit, a 36-year-old man was in his car near the intersection of Chestnut and Oak streets at 9:15 p.m.when he was approached by a male wearing all black clothing.

“The suspect proceeded to point a handgun at the victim and verbally demanded personal property from him as he was seated in his vehicle," Murray said. "As the victim began to throw some of his personal property from his vehicle, the suspect fired the handgun, striking the victim in the leg.”

The suspect ran away immediately after shooting the suspect, who was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center.
