Market Street Man Shot in 4th Ward Sunday Morning


PATERSON, NJ - Police are investigating the shooting of a 33-year-old city man early Sunday morning in Paterson's 4th Ward.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray of the Ceasefire Unit, the victim, a Market Street resident, was shot several times in the chest sometime before 2 a.m. near Sparrow Street and Highland Street.

Murray reported that the shooting may have been linked to an altercation in the area earlier in the overnight hours.

“We don’t know what the subject of the altercation was or what the reasons for it were,” Murray said. “We are still interviewing witnesses and reviewing area surveillance footage.” 

The victim was listed in critical but stable condition at St. Joseph's Medical Center.
