PATERSON, NJ - Less than 24 hours after a citywide crime suppression operation yielded 30 arrests and the confiscation of five guns, three city youth were struck by gunfire.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald, the incident took place at approximately 8:44 p.m. in the area of Hamilton Avenue and Summer Street. The victims, all 14 years old, were immediately transported to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center by Paterson Fire Departmet EMS for treatment. According to sources one remained in the hospital overnight.

Soon after the incident a resident in the area described to TAPinto Paterson hearing the gunshots and having to “hit the floor then run for cover” inside their home when the shots rang out.
