One Killed, Two Wounded in Drive-By Shootings in 1st Ward


PATERSON, NJ - One man was killed and two others wounded by shots fired from a vehicle driving through the 1st Ward late Friday night, police said.

A 21-year-old  resident of N. 4th Street was the first victim when he was fatally wounded while walking on Arch Street by shots fired from the vehicle, police said. Then, two other men were wounded when the vehicle turned right on Garfield Avenue and someone fired on them, police said.

"Itr appears it was all part of the same situation,'' Lt. Richard Reyes.

Police say they do not know yet whether the victims were targeted or picked at random.

Dennis Taylor, 21, was shot in the side and pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, said  Reyes. The other two victims, a 21-year-old and a 32-year-old, are in stable condition at the hospital, according to police.
