PATERSON -- Greater Bergen Community Action (GBCA) Head Start/Early Head Start preschool program has open enrollment for children ages 0 to 5 who come from low-income families. Early Head Start serves children from infancy through age 3, and Head Start serves children ages 3 through 5. The programs are available at no cost to the children and their families.
With three locations in Paterson, GBCA's Head Start program prepares its youngsters socially and academically for kindergarten through a researched-based curriculum. The program follows both state and federal guidelines, and is staffed with certified teachers, family workers, and healthcare professionals and paraprofessionals.
Studies show that children who attend a preschool program build a stronger desire to learn long after preschool, and have an overall positive experience with school.
All Head Start/Early Head Start children are provided:
• FREE educational, vision, dental, health and developmental screenings
• FREE diapers and formula
• FREE and nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack throughout the school day
