Paterson Alliance Honors Terence Byrd

The 5th Annual Extra Mile Awards luncheon will be held at the Brownstone on May 16, 2013.

This year’s Extra Mile in Community Leadership Award will be presented to Mr. Terence Byrd, President of Healthfirst NJ.  Mr. Byrd was the recipient of the 2012 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Award, and has been a critical partner in the Paterson Reads initiative, a collaborative that is part of the national grade level reading campaign.  Mr. Byrd, through Health First NJ, has played a major role in the Reach Out and Read program, promoting childhood literacy by providing access to reading materials in local healthcare facilities. Reach Out and Read NJ donates age-appropriate children’s books to families and children during scheduled pediatric visits.

The Paterson Alliance will also recognize its nonprofit members.  Awards will be presented to nonprofit staff members and volunteers serving the Paterson community.  The Extra Mile Award goes to individuals who have gone above and beyond the all of duty and who exude pride, commitment and passion for their work, the organization and the community we serve.
