PATERSON, N.J. - After weeks of contention over a budget that was prepared behind closed doors with limited input from board members, parents, and residents, the Paterson Board of Education voted down the budget 9-0.

Veteran Board of Ed. Member Jonathan Hodges was the first to raise concerns over this years budget when it was first announced the budget would be put together behind closed doors by the board president Chris Irving and a budget committee. Hodges also raised the alarm when a public session to hear budget priorities was canceled.
