PATERSON, NJ - As Tropical Storm Isaias continues to bear down on Paterson, and the region, an alert issued by Mayor Andre Sayegh's office has advised drivers to stay off the roads except for necessary travel, and to avoid areas subject to flash flooding.

Those areas, the alert said, include:

  • Route 20 & Edward Ave
  • Route 20 & 3rd Ave
  • Getty Ave Underneath the train trestle
  • 11th Ave Btw East 24th & East 26th
  • 20th Ave Btw East 23rd & East 25th St.
  • Off ramp of Route 80 East & Madison Ave
  • 10th Ave Btw East 27th & East 28th Street
  • East Main & Presidential Blvd
  • East Main & Holsman St
  • All Dead End Streets off of East Main St.
  • River St. & Montgomery St.

On Monday Paterson Fire Chief Brian McDermott reminded drivers residents not to attempt to drive through flooded street. "Turn around, don't drown," McDermott said.
