Paterson Dunkin Donuts Owner Struck and Killed by Vehicle

PATERSON, NJ – The owner of the Dunkin Donuts on Route 20 was struck and killed by a vehicle on the premises on Thursday.

According to reports, Jose Furtado, 65, of Haledon, was struck by a van driven by a 59 year-old Paterson man at approximately 7:02 p.m. Neither the driver of the van, nor a 15-year old occupant, were injured in the accident.

Furtado has been identified as the store’s owner by witnesses familiar with the victim.

Upon their arrival Paterson police and paramedics found Furtado with serious injuries and transported him to Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson where he was pronounced dead at 7:46 p.m.

No criminal charges have been filed. The investigation remains open.
