PATERSON – Players with the Eastside High School and John F. Kennedy High School football teams got a surprise visit from several New York Giants, including Paterson’s own Super Bowl Champion Victor Cruz, as well as a generous donation from the New York Giant's Foundation, on Tuesday, September 4.
After running a number of drills with the high school players, the visiting Giants, which also included center Jon Halapio, cornerback B.W. Webb, safety Michael Thomas and safety Curtis Riley, presented two donations from the New York Giants Foundation - $10,000 for each high school – for athletic equipment.
“To have Victor Cruz and the New York Giants spend time with our young players means the world to them and to all of us,” said Paterson State District Superintendent Eileen F. Shafer. “Our young men need role models, and to have the chance to work with your role models is a tremendously valuable experience.”
“We are very grateful to the New York Giants Foundation for their donation that will help keep our kids in the game on the football field,” said Shafer. “I know that the lessons of discipline and hard work that our young men learn from their role models will also help them, both inside and outside the sports arena.”
The New York Giants Foundation released a video of the surprise visit, which can be seen here.
