PATERSON, NJ- A Paterson father accused of abducting his infant child on Wednesday has been arrested and is due to appear in court on Thursday.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald, George C. Berry, 30, is charged with Burglary, Second Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Second Degree, and Aggravated Assault, Third Degree.
The incident, which led to the issuance of an Amber Alert, began at approximately 7:00 a.m. Wednesday when Berry allegedly entered his child’s mother’s home by breaking in her door, assaulted her and took their ten-month old infant without the mother’s permission.
The child was recovered unharmed after being turned over to a third party by the suspect.
According to the report prosecutors will ask the court to force Berry to remain in jail while await his trial.
