Paterson Man Arrested After License Plate Check

PATERSON, NJ- A 26-year-old Paterson man was arrested on Monday and faces two charges related to the apparent sale of illegal narcotics.

According to a statement by Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik, Sgt. Jose Vargas of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office conducted a random plate inquiry on a car being driven by Vladimir E. Urena-Gonzalez, 26. With the search returning an active warrant for the owner of the vehicle Vargas stopped it at Putnam Street and East 17th Street.

Upon observing and retrieving clear plastic wrapping appearing to contain heroin Vargas and Sheriff’s Officer Spadafora conducted a further search and located a container with $9,080 in US currency bundled in rubber bands, and a black notebook used as a ledger indicating dates, names and money amounts.

Gonzalez was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a controlled dangerous substance and Possession of drug paraphernalia.
