PATERSON, NJ - A 28-year-old Paterson man faces up to 40 years in prison following his arrest in connection to a shooting that took place on January 18.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald, Yhamere F. Mayo, 28, was arrested Friday after an extensive investigation into the incident that took place in the area of North Main Street.
Mayo has been charged with two counts of Attempted Murder, First Degree; Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Second Degree; and two counts of Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, Second Degree.
As previously reported, members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of the shooting on a report of shots fired, and upon arrival, the located a potential crime scene, but no victim. A short time later law enforcement officials were advised that a 28-year-old man had arrived at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center for treatment of a non-fatal gunshot wound.
Based on the investigation it was learned that a 32-year-old man was also shot at, but not injured.
Mayo was apprehended near Presidential Towers, police said.
