Paterson Man Arrested on Two Counts of Attempted Murder for June 14 Shootings


PATERSON, NJ - A Paterson man has been arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder relating to shootings that occurred in the city a month ago.

Jaronn Stokes, 30, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of attempted murder and several weapons offenses in connection with the shooting in the late afternoon hours of June 14 of two victims who sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds to their legs. The incident occurred near the corner of 17th Avenue and E. 28th Street.

"As a result of an investigation conducted by detectives Salvatore Marotta and Joehan Suarez of the Ceasefire Unit, Jaronn Stokes was identified as the alleged actor in this incident. Jaronn Stokes was taken into custody without incident by Ceasefire Detectives Marotta , Suarez, Michael Quinones and Prosecutor’s Detective Ricardo Ferreira when they observed him in the area of 12th Avenue and East 18th Street on Thursday evening."

Stokes is being detained pending initial judicial proceedings.
