Paterson Man Critical After 1st Ward Shooting Tuesday

PATERSON, NJ - Police are investigating the shooting of a 35-year-old city man Tuesday night in the 1st Ward.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray, the victim, who was in critical condition Wednesday morning, suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and buttocks shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of North 6th and Clinton streets.

The victim was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center.

"Detectives are currently conducting interviews and canvassing the area for possible witnesses, as well as area video footage. A possible motive for the incident, and whether or not the victim was the intended target has not yet been established," Murray said.
