PATERSON, NJ - A 35-year-old Paterson man remains in critical condition after being found lying unresponsive in the street near Tio Gowon Bar, 243 21st Ave, in the early hours of Sunday.

According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald, an officer from the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department came across a crowd of people outside the bar at approximately 2:30 a.m. 

The officer discovered the victim, later identified as Ludwig Alvarez, who was immediately transferred to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center by Paterson Fire Department EMS. The initial investigation revealed there was a fight outside the bar involving a large group of people, and Alvarez was beaten unconscious during the altercation.
