Paterson Man Shot on Presidential Blvd. Sunday Night in Third City Shooting of Weekend


PATERSON, NJ - Police are investigating the shooting Sunday evening of a city man on Presidential Boulevard Sunday evening.

According to a release from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Heriberto Rodriguez, police responded to a report of gunshots at 8:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Presidential Blvd.

Although no victim was located at the crime scene, shortly afterward, a 24-year-old Paterson man was discovered to be seeking treatment at St. Joseph's Medical Center. There was no information where the victim was shot or the severity of his wound.

The incident was the third reported shooting in the city over the weekend, including one that resulted in the death of 22-year-old Davon Owens early Sunday morning in an incident that is being investigated as a homicide. Owens, according to the prosecutor's office, was killed near the corner of North Main Street and Jefferson Street shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday. He sustained "multiple gunshot wounds," according to police.
