PATERSON, NJ - A 21-year-old city man was in stable condition after being shot in the leg in the First Ward early Friday.
According to Lt. Patrick Murray, the incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. near the corner of Belmont and North 8th Street. The victim was approached by a male who was armed with a handgun. The suspect at that time made a verbal demand for the victim’s property, and when the victim replied that he had none, the suspect fired at the victim, striking him in the leg.
The victim was then transported to Saint Joseph’s Medical Center by private vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Christopher Ravallese or Prosecutor’s Detective Michael Boone of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
