PATERSON, NJ - A Paterson man faces up to 20 years in prison for allegedly unlawfully possessing a handgun.

The charge arose from an incident that Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Troy Oswald said occurred on Saturday in which Lamont McKay is reported to have accidentally shot himself.

According to the initial report members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that a 32-year-old male Paterson resident had arrived at Hackensack Medical Center in Hackensack at approximately 3:00 a.m. for treatment of the non-fatal gunshot wound.
