Paterson Police Arrest Sexual Assault Suspect

Steven Brown

PATERSON, NJ - Paterson police on Thursday arrested Steven Brown of 138 North 5th St. and charged him with the sexual assault of a child.

Paterson detectives and New Jersey state parole officers also charged Brown with multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Parole officers seized computers at Brown's residence that contained "a vast amount of videos" depicting Brown, a registered sex offender, having sexual intercourse with possible underage partners, according to a post on the Paterson Police Cease Fire Unit's Facebook page.

One of the videos was determined to include a 14-year-old minor. Brown is believed to have met the victim online using the screen name "Mike Knight." Brown is also known to use the alias of "Aaron Brown."

According to police, there are concerns that numerous other juvenile males may have visited Brown at 138 North 5th St.

Steven Brown was previously convicted in 1999 of sexual assault of a 14-year-old male.

Anyone with information pertaining to the suspect can contact Detective Steve Leishman at (973) 321-1120.
