Paterson Police Arrest Two. Confiscate Drugs, Guns and Cash

PATERSON, NJ- a monthlong investigation by the Narcotics Division of the Paterson Police Department resulted in the arrest of one Paterson resident, as well as the confiscation of a large amount of illegal drugs, two guns, 82 hollow point bullets, and more than $100,000 in cash, according to a report issued Wednesday.

The investigation focused on three locations, 163 Beech Street and 957 E. 27th Street in Paterson, and 12 Oration Place in Lodi, as well as two motor vehicles. According to the report, the investigation resulted in the simultaneous raid of all three locations and both vehicles at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The raids were conducted by members of the Paterson Police Department and the US DEA.

Sammy Cuevas of Paterson and Gabriel Mercado of Lodi were both arrested and face a variety of charges including possession of and intent to distribute crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and Percocet pills; possession of the weapons; and possession of the hollow point bullets.

“The tireless efforts to rid our city of drugs has led to the successful closure of a major drug distribution operations,” stated Paterson Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale.
