PATERSON, NJ - A 21-year-old city resident has been charged in the shooting of a 21-year-old city man in the early morning hours of Oct. 24 in the First Ward.
Divon Chance, 21, of the Prospect Park section has been charged with attempted murder and other weapons offenses after a 21-year-old male was struck in the upper leg when a male suspect fired a handgun at the victim near the corner of Belmont Avenue and North 8th Street at 1:55 a.m. last Friday.
As a result of an investigation conducted by Detective Christopher Ravallese and Prosecutor’s Detective Michael Boone, Chance was identified as the suspect in this incident. Chance was arrested Tuesday evening on an unrelated incident, and was subsequently charged with the shooting incident.
He is currently detained at the Passaic County Jail awaiting further court proceedings, and is held on $1 million bail with no 10 percent option. The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detectives Ravallese or Boone of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
