PATERSON, NJ - Efforts to curb the use of illegal fireworks across Paterson continued Friday with Mayor Andre Sayegh saying that they were preparing for another "active evening" on Saturday.

On Tuesday Sayegh confirmed the issuance of more than 200 summonses the weekend previous, and added that “we will not stand for anyone putting the safety or lives of our residents in danger, and won’t let up until our streets and skies are free of illegal fireworks.”

Also under siege by illegal fireworks in recent weeks is Jersey City where law enforcement officials announced the death of a local man in a fireworks incident in the early hours of Saturday.
