PATERSON – Paterson Public Schools officials announced new principal appointments for the 2019-2020 school year. The assignments were recently approved by the Board of Education.

“We are very fortunate to have a pool of dynamic educational leaders in the Paterson Public Schools,” said School Superintendent Eileen Shafer. “I am confident that these principals will join the rest of their colleagues in serving Paterson students and families well in the upcoming school year, and in fulfilling the mission and vision of the district’s new strategic plan.”

Public School No. 3

Jose Correa, formerly the director of instructional technology and media specialists, has been transferred to the position of principal of Public School No. 3.

 

Dr. Frank Napier School (Public School No. 4)

Derwin Smith, formerly a vice principal at Public School No. 18, has been transferred to the position of principal of the Dr. Frank Napier School (Public School No. 4).

 

Public School No. 16

Nancy Tavarez-Correa, who had been serving as the interim principal at Public School No. 16, has now been named principal of the school.

 

Public School No. 25

Antoinette Young, who had been serving as an interim principal at Public School No. 25, has now been named principal of the school.

 

Dr. Hani Awadallah School

Nahed Badawy, formerly a vice principal at the Dr. Hani Awadallah School, has been named principal of the school following the resignation of Christine Johnson.

 

New Roberto Clemente Middle School

Steven Rodriguez, formerly the principal of Public School No. 3, has been transferred to the position of principal of the New Roberto Clemente Middle School following the resignation of Hector Montes.

 

Great Falls Academy

Stanley Sumter, formerly the principal of Silk City Academy, has been transferred to the position of principal of Great Falls Academy as part of the merger of the school with Silk City Academy.

 

Young Men’s Leadership Academy

Marc Medley, formerly the principal of the Dr. Frank Napier School, has been transferred to the position of principal at Young Men’s Leadership Academy.
