RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Former John F Kennedy basketball player Jaylen Colon has been selected as the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CAAC) Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 9. Colon, a freshman at Felician University in Rutherford graduated from JFK in 2018.

According to Felician athletic officials, Colon, a 6-foot-1, 160-pound guard, averaged 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds (2.5 defensive) and 4.0 steals in a 1-1 week for Felician. 

Notably, during the Golden Falcons' 67-63 road victory over Mansfield University on Dec. 6, Colon logged five rebounds and made six steals. His final swipe came with his team ahead three points and one minute, 15 seconds, remaining in regulation time.

Colon, the announcement continues, has played in all seven games for Felician this season, starting six. In 30.6 minutes per game, he is averaging 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor. He is a 2018 graduate of John F. Kennedy High of Paterson.
