PATERSON, NJ -  Paterson's Myasia Jacobs won the national scholastic 60-meter championship over the weekend, according to a story on

The 17-year-old Paramus Catholic junior also improved on her own state and county records in the event, the story said


"I wanted to run faster [Saturday] than I did before and then run even faster [Sunday] and I was able to do that. It feels great," she said, according to the story.


In February,  Jacobs won the Wilma Rudolph Award as part of Paterson's Blackk History Month Celebration.
Jacobs has won numerous track events, including the 55-meter race at the Hispanic Games Invitational Meet in New York. She also won a silver medal for the 100-meters and a gold medal in the mixed medley relay at the 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore. 
Jacobs also does community service through the Ambassador Club of Paramus Catholic and a volunteer helping the homeless community at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
