PATERSON, NJ- Two teachers at Paterson’s Arts & Sciences Charter School were among ten of their colleagues recognized on Thursday at the 2nd Annual iLearn Schools award recognition dinner held at The Venetian in Garfield.
Donna Farrell, an elementary school art teacher, and Gokce Kan, an ELA teacher for both middle and high school students, as well as the eight other honorees, were selected by the school-based selection committee, composed of the school director, Assistant Director of Academics and select faculty. Each received a total of $600, with the overall winner receiving $1000 upon selection.
According to a statement by the iLearn Charter School network, which currently serves over 3,500 students across nine campuses in Passaic, Bergen and Hudson County, the event honored excellence in the classroom and provided an opportunity to show many outstanding educators whose efforts and example have inspired their students colleagues, and the communities they serve, and was held in partnership with the iSupport Education Foundation.
“We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments and contributions of this year’s Teachers of the Year” said Phil Patire, Executive Director of iSupport Education Foundation “These remarkable teachers have already proven they have the capacity to help our students academically, emotionally and physiologically and were excited to honor them at this year’s dinner.”
