PATERSON, NJ - A Paterson teen congregating as part of a large group in violation of coronavirus order was arrested after he was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun. The Glock .40 semi-automatic weapon was reported stolen out of North Carolina.

According to Paterson Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale, the incident took place at approximately 10:00 p.m. in the area of Harrison and Carroll Streets.As Detectives exited their vehicles and approached the group to issue city ordinance violations, and to disperse the group individuals began dispersing. 

When Detective Marvin Escobar advised the group that Detectives were going to issue summonses to them one male fled on foot in the direction of Governor Street. While in pursuit, Detective Salvatore Marotta observed a large handgun protruding from the suspect’s pocket, and alerted other detectives to the presence of the firearm. After a foot chase that included the suspect scaling a fence, the teen was apprehended on Carroll Street.
