TRENTON, NJ – Saving for the future and possible buying a new car have moved up the priority list for Paterson resident Paula Castro after winning $342,957 from the New Jersey Lottery’s Cash 5 game.
According to Lottery officials Castro is a “long-time New Jersey Lottery player” who, while her husband prefers scratch off tickets, is a fan of the draw games.
Opting to try her luck while shopping at the C-Town Supermarket on June 20, Castro spent three dollars to purchase three Quick Picks for that evening’s drawing.
Thinking it was “too good to be true” when she watched her numbers come up during the televised drawing, Castor waited until the next morning before returning to the store and verifying her win. In “shock and disbelief” Castro called her husband the statement said, telling him of the news while “tears of joy fell down her face.”
