Paterson Woman Mugged on Way to Work Monday

PATERSON, NJ - A city woman on her way to work Monday morning was mugged by a suspect who threatened her with a knife.

According to Paterson police, a 26-year-old woman was walking to work near the intersection of Union and Albion avenues when she was approached by a 6-foot, 170-pound white male wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt who held a knife to her and demanded her money.

The woman, who was not injured, surrendered her purse and her cell phone to the suspect, who fled on foot. Later Monday morning, the purse was recovered by police in a yard on Redwood Avenue after a resident spotted a suspicious-looking person in their backyard. The person fled when he realized that the resident had seen him.
