Police and School District Ramp Up Security For Report Card Night; Guardian Angels Will Be At School 6

Guardian Angels in Paterson

PATERSON, N.J. - With violence in the city reaching new heights over the past few weeks the Paterson School District, Police, and Teachers Union is stepping up security for an incident free report card night Thursday.

In the email to The Patersonian suspended Union President, John McEntee Jr., confirmed that the Guardian Angels will be present today in and around School No. 6. They will be focusing on this school in particular because of recent violence that has occurred within it's vicinity and amid recent recommendations to teachers to leave the building by 4 p.m. to avoid danger.

The Guardian Angels is a non profits neighborhood watch group that was founded in 1979 by Curtis Silwa and 12 volunteers in response to crime in New York City. Since the group has trained thousands of safety patrol volunteers and boasts chapters in 130 cities and 13 countries worldwide.

McEntee first brought the Guardian Angels to Paterson last year when security cuts gave way to fear by parents and teachers who did not want to participate in report card night.
