PATERSON, NJ - Members of the Paterson Police Department’s Narcotics Unit conducted two operations Wednesday leading to five arrests and the confiscation of drugs and money, Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.
According to a report, surveillance detectives first conducted an investigation in the area of Main St and Grove St in response to illegal narcotics trafficking. While observing the area, detectives reported that Erick Peguero, 31, engaged in a hand-to-hand transaction with Sean Fester, 27, Suffern, NY who was in a vehicle on Pacific Street. Following the transaction police initiated a motor vehicle stop of Fester and recovered 15 hydrochloride pills. Peguero was also located and both men were placed into custody.
A short time later, detectives responded to complaints of open air drug sales by setting up surveillance in the area of Main Street and Grand Street where they reported observing Madonna Carballo, 55, Paterson, hand Joshua Miller, Paterson money. At this point, the report reads, Samantha Zaccaro, 30, handed what appeared to be heroin to Miller who then passed it on to Carballo.
Backup units in the area stopped all three and recovered a total of 69 glassines of heroin stamped “Take Back” in red ink, “The Hustle” in blue ink, “Paid in Full” in green ink, “Public Enemy’ in blue ink, and “Ultimate Level” in black ink.
All three were arrested and charged with various crimes.
A total of $1,134 was recovered during the two operations.
