PATERSON, NJ- A quick response by members of the Paterson Police Department led to the arrest of a local man following an early morning burglary at the Colt Cafe, 29 Church Street, on Sunday.

According to Police Director Jerry Speziale, the incident, during which the business’ front doors were damaged and cash register removed, occurred at approximately 7:55 a.m. Officer Franklin Munoz, Speziale said, identified the suspect, Jose Luis Rosario, 39, in the area of Van Houten Avenue and Auburn Street, based on a witness description.

Rosario reportedly had lacerations consistent with the damage sustained to the doors, and was also identified during the initial investigation, based on identifiable marks and tattoos, as a suspect in another recent burglary. The stolen cash register was also recovered.

“The quick response, attention to detail, and the officers’ keen eye to their surrounding to the arrest,” of Roario, who according to Speziale, was transported to the Paterson Police Department and is continuing to be investigated to determine if he has been involved in any other burglaries in the downtown area.
