PATERSON, N.J. - Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. has donated 300 computers to the New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC), a private, non-profit community development and social service agency whose mission is to create opportunities to transform lives.

The fully loaded computers will be put to good use by the NJCDC in Paterson to help grow the city’s youth services programs/

“We are extremely grateful for the generous donation from Roche. This donation will have a major impact on many of our programs and will truly make a difference in the lives of those we serve within the Paterson community,” NJCDC CEO Robert Guarasci said.

The six NJCDC programs that will be able to utilize the computers are the Congdon Youth Arts Program, Neighborhood Help Center, Garrett Morgan Academy High School, Rogers Conference Center, Paterson Youth Council and the Community Charter School of Paterson.

Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. Vice President and Site Head Tom Lyon said the computers have been completely refurbished since the company’s Nutley facility was shutdown in 2013.

“We completely refurbished them with the hope of finding a suitable partner to donate them to so the computers would have the greatest impact,” Lyon said. “We are very pleased to be able to offer them to the New Jersey Community Development Corporation. We’ve worked with them in the past so we know they offer a wide range of valuable community programs where the computers can be put to good use.”

Roche also recently made several donations to the Township of Nutley, including 55 computers to be used by the Board of Education and Township office staff, icemakers, a Fire Safety Cabinet, as well as landscape-related items for the Parks Department.
